'Lewis' who whilst working with West Gorton Youth project was discovered by SharpFutures where he is an now integral part of their team and works across both The Sharp Project and The Space Project as a Digital Runner; supporting the day to day running of the busy production and creative digital hubs, rubbing shoulders alongside clients such as BBC’s Dragon’s Den and Red
Productions as well as creating digital content.
The Sharp Project went on to say:  "It is essential that SharpFutures can continue to work with and support the ambitions of local groups such as West Gorton Youth Project, to enable Manchester to continue to grow the Creative Digital sector and for SharpFutures to use local talent on our doorstep to develop sustainable careers and successful futures for our young residents.

“Working with SharpFutures has opened my eyes to a whole new world around me which I am now thankfully part of, so many doors and opportunities have been opened. Being invited by Tiger Aspect to visit the Mr Bean animation studio in London is exciting and I hope to get an insight into industry-standard animation and meet some interesting people.”

Junior: "Coaching for Young Champions gave me a lot of opportunities to develop my coaching. Working with different age groups, leading sessions on my own, learning how to manage a team, plan sessions etc. The sense of just being able to run the session on your own and only getting help if needed so you're getting the full experience where at other clubs you might have to shadow other coaches who have a higher FA Level than you.
Then when we got the opportunity to coach in after school clubs which opened up our learning of coaching in different environments and other sports. Giving us a chance to talk to the PE teachers about the day to day running of a PE department if we ever wanted to do that as a career"

Danielle’s involvement with the Urmston football team has also inspired other young girls in West Gorton to take up the game. However, she admits that she hasn’t always been the positive role model she is today: “When I was younger I did get up to a bit of mischief and did things I’m not proud of now, but it was starting the volunteering that made me realise that I could spend my time more positively.

Nicco meanwhile says it was seeing the determination of a young runner with Leukaemia competing in the Bupa Run that has inspired him to set himself some goals in life. “When you’re young there are lots of opportunities to mess up and waste your time but life is much better when you’re doing something positive and helping other people” he said.
